This book would have been much better if it provided more model LinkedIn profiles. Instead, the author uses her profile 100 times. After seeing here LinkedIn profile picture he first 50 times, you get real tired of seeing it. I would have used different profile images or better yet, different model profiles altogether. It wouldn't have affected the content. I did notice LinkedIn changed a few layout sections so some of the screenshots are already obsolete.The checklists are useful though. And some of the suggestions for what to write are pretty good examples. Her advice on keeping the audience in mind is common sense, but I totally forgot about it. My profile had two audiences and I had to choose one. This made me have to go over it again and create a consistent profile. Overal, this is a valuable reference book.

This book is very detailed and organized. The amount of time it takes to do it right is no small task. The service this author offers as a turn key solution is detailed in this book but not as an item for sale. If you read this book you will know what to do. Having the time and expertise to get it done in my opinion should be left to professional like this author and her team.

You won't get too far into this how-to book before your frustrations with it will grow greater and greater. It includes very specific instructions about how to manipulate LinkedIn to make it do what you want it to do, but when you attempt to implement the suggestions you find that there's no such button to click or pop-up window that appears. Must be terribly outdated. Waste of time! And money

Prior to that, I was skeptical. However, he set up an account, posted updates from his field, and used the address to his Linked-In page on his resume. Even when he was not offered jobs from companies that he applied to, he could tell they had checked out his account on LinkedIn (which gave him encouragement to keep trying). He also used it to gather info. on the folks he interviewed with.But what if you don't know how to to use LinkedIn? This book will show you the ropes. It uses clear, simple language (plus illustrations) to help you with:*Figuring out a strategy. Who are you trying to reach? What is the best tone to use? Formal? Casual? Tech-ie?*Figuring out how to be found. What are the best words to use? How can you get more people to check you out?*Painting yourself in the best professional light. What achievements do you include? Although the writing is clunky and at times overwrought, the central purpose of this book is the much-needed insight into the incredibly damaging environment in which the 2 youngest McCandless kids were raised. I think the abusive environment made it very easy for Chris to cut off all contact in an attempt to define himself as a man separate from Walt. He did the extraordinary (abandoning his formerly materially-comfortable life for a meagre existence) because he was from an extra-ordinary situation. The very foundation of the second McCandless family was built on a lie, and that which is a lie cannot stand, it may take a few decades but it will fall. The core of the second family, which was Chris and Carine, seem more damaged than the first family (the other 6 kids) probably because of the persistently detrimental effects of living full time with two incredibly personality-disordered people. We don’t get much insight into the other mother, but it seems the very act of separating from Walt and claiming her own life and dignity back made a huge difference on the older kids. They all seem to be successful and ‘normal’ in a way that Chris and Carine are not. Perhaps their mother was not as nuts. Walt and Billie were so wrapped up in themselves and their dynamic drama that real parenting seemed to take a back seat. What little energy was left after trying to kill each other or the kids was spent on their careers and ‘looking good’ to the community. They are almost textbook narcissists. Carine is not the easiest person to like; there are shades of her mother’s willfulness and self-righteousness in her actions, and she can seem more self-absorbed than self-reflective. Because she and Chris lost contact just at the point his story gets interesting, she can offer little insight into the man he was becoming, she can only reveal the boy he was.

I almost never write reviews about books, but I do want to make one thing clear:Anyone leaving a poor review based on the fact that Carine talks about herself, and/or that there was nothing 'earth-shattering' about what was written with regard to Chris and his motivations completely missed the plethora of nuance and sub-text, all of the things that weren't explicitly written but many people were capable of picking up on, probably hasn't experienced the content that this book engages with. Furthermore, this becomes even more obvious when people are still unable to grasp why a child who endured the violence of abuse would choose to leave home and behave in a way that's 'reckless,' saying that 'nothing was actually revealed' essentially translates into 'I don't think the abuse these children endured is significant, especially not enough to cause someone to do what Chris did.'For those who read this entire book, learned about the horrendous abuse that these two experienced as children, the petty and conniving harassment and manipulation that Carine endured from her parents for years, the painful grief that Carine felt after losing her brother and then seeing his name and image ridiculed and criticized by every average joe who thought that their input should be heard, and still came away feeling as though they didn't gain any insight into what drove Chris into the wild will simply never get it.Unfortunately, this book seems only to prove insightful to those that are either capable of understanding the magnitude of the toll that abuse takes on a person, reading between the lines and grasping what's not being overtly said, or those who didn't find Chris a deplorable person in the first place...I honestly can't imagine why somebody who freely takes every opportunity they have to prattle on about what a terrible person they think Chris was would choose to read this book AND then still feel compelled to leave a review.

While watching Into the Wild, the film, I immediately recognized that Chris must have been the victim of severe early childhood abuse. To socially and emotionally divorce one's abusive parents is the fantasy of all abused children, but Chris really went through with it. Now Carine provides the backstory to what was omitted in Sean Penn's film and in Jon Krakauer's book. She sheds light on the severe physical, emotional and psychological abuse suffered at the hands of two delusional, violent, narcissistic, manipulative and possibly psychotic individuals, who were ill-equiped to start a family in the first place.It is very brave of Carine to write this book, regardless of her writing skills (as commented upon by some other reviewers). The point is in the content: abusive parents are the worst thing that could ever happen to a young child, with effects lasting into adulthood. The abused child must overcome his abuse twice. Firs as the abused child, then as the damaged adult.If more people like Carine come forward, we will some day end all domestic violence. Carine's father was (and probably still is) a rabid dog who should be put on a leash.

This book may not be required (it wasnt for our neuro labs in medical school but highly recommended by the instructors) but it is a great atlas that reviews practically everything that you would need to know. The best assets of this atlas are the coronal and horizontal section pictures which are of great quality and its pal-weigert stains which as a medical student i will attest that it is rough to learn. This books helped a ton and I did very well. It is also a great tool to use to review pathways as it devotes pages just to pathways as well. The glossy high quality paper and images makes it very useful in a wet lab such as a neuro lab working with brains but I wouldnt reuse it after and so i bought a second just for my studies while the other stayed in the lab. Even though neurology is one of my favorite areas it gets tough and the mri, ct and all sorts of images really help. I cannot recommend this book enough even if you feel like it is too much i guarantee that you will use it more than any neuro text that would be required. I used this along with BRS neuroanatomy (which lacks images besides basic ones) and I soared through neuro and neuro labs. do yourself a favor and at least by a used copy, if even as an adjunct to wet lab.

This atlas has netted me some points on my exams, so I have to give it praise. I was scared about the black-and-white issue that people were talking about, but this book does have SOME color, just not on most of the cross sections. The tracts are indeed hard to follow, but once you figure out how to actually read the tracts, you're off to the races and this atlas helps you understand the amount of ridiculous detail needed to ace medical school exams (e.g., know the positions of the tracts at different levels of the spinal cord in cross section, in relation to one another, how they are topographically arranged, and the arteries that supply those areas)Although the structures are heavily abbreviated in the tract diagrams, I find it is very helpful in testing your knowledge; you will know that you have studied enough when you don't need to look at the legend. Giving away the structure names may encourage passive learning anywho! Best of luck! I haven't used any other atlas, so I can't comment on that. Works well for me.

This was a great atlas for the lab component of my medical neuroscience course. It did in fact contain good images that "stepped through" the brain in different sections. Overall, it was very useful.My complaints include the lack of color (not that the actual brain is very colorful, but a black and white image is a far cry from an actual section), the thickness of cuts (i.e., I would have liked to see thinner slices such that you have more sections per "step through" of the brain), and the mediocre quality of drawings (e.g., in the spinal cord section).

This book is quite distinct from other books we used for neurology.Many of the images from this book are not schematics; rather, it uses real MRI or histological sections.In addition, it has some very good schematic diagrams as well.I found the coronal and horizontal sections to be especially useful, because they come with the real images + real images schematized with lines.They also provide an online website code in the book, which allows you to look at everything in the book on the website.This is especially useful for the sake of compiling notes on your computer... I would imagine that professors teaching neuroanatomy would find these images very useful as well.

I bought this as a Kindle Book, which seemed great initially. For reading it is pretty easy - although I have been unable to change the highlight colors and the search function is really slow compared to iBooks and Adobe apps. Often my professors refer us to specific pages to read and in the kindle version I cannot look up those pages, which makes groups a little tough at times. (In the Netter iPad app, which I realize is not an e-book, the images are still labeled by the textbook pages. This was my first "ebook", so maybe it skewed my expectations.)People love this book, but I am not impressed yet. The images are nice, but finding information in the text is a challenge. Even using the index, which is not great, I often spend several minutes to find one structure or concept. I thought that the search function would deal with this, but it often brings back limited results and they are text only. Perhaps I just need to own this book for more than a few weeks...Overall, I would caution a buyer about buying this atlas as an ebook. Try to find a friend who already has it and try to use it.

This book was very helpful to me in learning all the complicated neural tracts. Very detailed and the multi-colored lines helped visually. I used it in med school but my bf, who was in his 5/6/7th year of neurosurgery residency at the time, was still referencing it so, it obviously was very helpful for more advanced neuroanatomy review purposes.

I bought this thinking it would help my understanding of neuroanatomy or at least help with some of the pictures, but it's just okay. It's very cluttered and it seems like they just crammed as much info in there as they could. The pictures are okay.. The drawn pictures are standard (chicken scratch compared to Netter) with colors that remind me of faded curtains in a house from the 60s. I will say some of the real sections compared with drawings are actually pretty good; it's really the only good quality of the book.

I like the book. It is simple, but in neuro/addictions I was only able to rent a PDF and no hardcopy. Compared to $$$$, I have been collecting basic texts for the same thing combined for $.

Noble Intentions, Season One (Noble Book 4). Note the edit at the end: I read the first 3 and enjoyed the books and the character development. The situations are a bit far fetched and he seems to get into an incredible number of scrapes either deliberately or simply because he is careless, but he always gets out of the last one by some magic trick and slays his enemies. My 1 Star review for this book is that he totally deviates from the characters he has already developed in Books 1-3. Noble's sometimes GF is a tough but fair young women who is/was the daughter of Noble's CO when he was in the Marines. Noble has promised to watch out for her forever when the CO/Father was dying in Noble's arms. In Books 1-3 she was an operator/bartender at a NY neighborhood bar. Suddenly in Book 4 she is a pole dancer. In Book 3 Noble runs into a section head of the DGSE in France whom he befriends and helps out in a Terrorist situation. Pierre is the section head and ends Book 3 owing Noble a favor. In Book 4 Pierre is suddenly an assassin for hire. Does Ryan think we don't remember from book to book who his characters are? Or is the series now being ghost written by someone that simply hasn't read the first 3? Maybe Ryan has a new editor that has talked Ryan in abandoning all that has gone before to introduce more gratuitous violence in the series and change the characters from complex developed parts of the overall story to simply a placeholder for a new book. Pretty disgusting in my mind.I don't know what prompted Ryan to make Clarissa a Pole Dancer and initially call Pierre an Assassin in this beginning of this book, but I will put it up to a bout of temporary insanity. Clarissa cleared up and became a CIA agent and quit the Pole Dancing business. Pierre remained a mess and although was later mentioned as a DSGE agent really did act throughout the book as a bit of a weak assassin. But I suppose I can forgive that, so I moved my one star rating to 4 stars.

After a bad day, one of life's greatest joys is to curl up with a cup of tea or glass of alcohol and get caught up in a good book. I'm on lots of medications, so for me it's a cup of tea. This book was perfect for this escape purpose. Get swept up in lots of action and likeable characters. Although I have no issue with antiheroes or people that do bad things for good reasons, making them likeable is tough. So authors sometimes add in other characters you can care about, as it's sometimes difficult to go through a whole book with no one to care about. In this book I cared about or was interested in practically everybody.I just took this book and ran with it, no deep dissecting or parsing of everything or looking for issues because this book is too enjoyable for that. I stayed up all night listening to it and considered it time well spent. It's definitely a "just one more chapter" book. I would certainly read other books about this character as well.as unrelated books from this author. My SO is reading it now and is enjoying it a lot as well. He described it as vivid and fast-paced fun. There's the occasional cliche or scene that may stretch believability a little bit. I didn't really care and neither has he because if a book is entertaining enough and those things are done in a fun-spirited way and don't bog the book down, those things don't matter so much. Read it and have a good time! I got this at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book I have read by L.T. Ryan but certainly not my last! You can't help but love the main character, Jack Noble, even though he is a well-paid assasin, spy and thief. He is someone to have on your side when the going gets rough and rougher. He has super strength, is very strong-willed and quite stubborn. His stubborness gets him in a lot of trouble with his enemies and consequently he gets tortured quite a bit. He appears to be a hard-hearted, ruthless criminal/assasin. He is not the person he seems to be. He loves his friends, Bear, Clarissa and Mandy, a little girl he rescued. He takes the blame for some murders and took all the blame for his friend, Pierre, who is also an assasin. He is very compassionate and caring about the people he is close to.I loved all the excitement, suspense and action! It was a totally interesting book from beginning to end and very hard to put down!

The first book was free on bookbub.com, but I'm now buying _all_ the Jack Noble books. They're that good.Here's what I like about the Jack Noble books.*LT Ryan understands plot and character development. And he's good at it too.*Jack Noble has some moral standards. Even if I don't like his values, he has consistent ones. Jack only kills people that he feels the world will be better off without.*No vile language. Yes I'm sure ex military, professional hit men curse a lot, but I appreciate not having to read it.*No graphic sex. If I want to read graphic sex, there are lots of books out there to read. In this kind of story, it's never critical to the story and it just slows down the plot.Thank you Mr. Ryan for these gripping books. I'd write more, but I'd really like to read the rest of the Jack Noble books!
