As someone who was exploring Anglicanism, I was all but sold on the denomination. They recite the creeds, they held the sacrament of Eucharist in the perfect balance theologically, they allow for both a catholic and evangelism outlook. However, paedobaptism was the only think stopping be from fully jumping in.Thanks to Twitter and the wonderful site Anglican Pastor I was discovered Scot's book. From the very beginning something that caught my attention was that Scot came from a very strong credobaptist position to the position he now take of paedobaptism not only being the tradition view, but also the biblical view. Scot even uses the liturgy for the baptism service to teach about the theology of the event, makes the statement Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi (the law of prayer is the law of believing) truly a motto.I felt Scot did a wonderful job answering the questions asked of those subscribing to infant baptism. Scot argues his case mainly by saying while paedobaptists do believe that something happens during infant baptism, the church and family of the child are meant to be drawn into raising this child with Christ. From this point, Scot points to covenant theology to explain infant baptism as biblical. He makes a great point that religion for most of human history has not been an individual mindset, but a family/nation mindset. While we believe that faith is personal, we are as Christians are also commanded to "train up a child in the way he should go" (Proverbs 22:6).Scot does a good job of explaining a sacrament as something that is material ("ordinary" is the word Scot uses) that God uses to show us and bestow his spiritual grace. If we view baptism not as something we do, but something God does it changes not only how we view infant baptism but also how we who have been baptized as Adults view our baptism.

I serve as the priest at an Anglican Church Plant. This is a great resource for our context. It answers so many questions that many folks are asking. It is thorough, biblical, and nicely brief. I’m planning to do a Book Study of it for our church plant this Fall after reading through it. Grateful for resources like this that serve the Church!

This is a great book for those who grew up in traditions where infant baptism is the norm and for those where it’s not. Short, sweet, and to the point McNight uses Scripture and the traditional idea of the Church as family to provide a provoking argument for infant baptism.

I grew up Methodist and was sprinkled as an infant. At the age of 17 I joined the Churches of Christ and was immersed in water as an act of believer's baptism. I also love Scot McKnight and his books and so this one quickly caught my interest.McKnight's approach to arguing in favor of infant baptism is unique for sure. As an Anglican he guides the reader through the Common Book of Prayer as if they were attending worship with him on a Sunday that a baptism was happening. The reader is able to take a deeper look into the liturgy and have a better understanding of why it is approached the way that it is.Near the end McKnight breaks from this in order to write about what the Bible teaches about baptism, and then to work to provide a scriptural case for infant baptism before returning to the liturgical baptism.Almost thou persuadest me, Scot. Almost. Scot focused primarily on covenants and the history of God bringing in not just one who receives the sign of the covenant (shown through circumcision) but how other males were also circumcised based on the faith of the patriarch whether slave or son, adult or infant. I think he makes a good point, and it's always bothered me how many Christians have raised their children as kids that have faith, participate in worship, confess, repent, and pray for forgiveness, and suddenly we tell them they need to get baptized and give their lives to Christ as if their lives so far have been a sham faith.Perhaps I'm just not "there" yet, but I wasn't convinced that baptism is equated with circumcision to the extent that it copies the act of bringing people into God's family based on the faith of a family leader. The argument that "households" would most likely have kids and so we should assume they infants were baptized is more of a leap for me than anything, and his use of 1 Corinthians 7:14 to argue infant baptism seems very out of context.That being said, I still highly recommend it. It prompted me to really consider what we do as a church that practices believers baptism to show that we care deeply about our children and helping them find their place within the family of God as early as possible.*I received a free copy from Netgalley for my honest review*

Dr. Jane M. Mullins is a dementia nurse consultant who has devoted over 25 years to the study and practice of dementia care. Through listening to and supporting people and their families during their diagnosis in memory clinics, caring for people who have dementia in hospital and in care homes, she has helped people throughout all of the stages of their condition. When managing a Nursing Home, she has supported their transition from home to residential care using lifestories as a guide to planning their life and care throughout their remaining years. This has also included supporting their partners, families and friends. Her particular passions are finding ways to communicate through music, nature and art as a way to helping people feel well and valued while living with dementia. Jane has uncovered certain common features that may help caregivers and the people they care for find better ways of coping, you can find these in her new book: Finding the Light in Dementia, a Guide for Families, Friends and Caregivers. Making that money was difficult - now they have to create a strategy to keep it because they're on the radar with pending lawsuits (80,000+/day) from other businesses, partners, employees, government, relatives, neighbors, and other parties."Asset Protection" then tells readers about irrevocable living trusts, creating and maintaining LLCs, equity-stripping techniques, durable powers of attorney, estate planning, and wills. The trick, says Northcott, is to own nothing directly, but control it all legally.The material is presented logically and clearly, though it often resembles a 270+ page commercial for various attorneys and others in the business of helping clients protect assets. Further, it is not a detailed 'do-it-yourself' book - if that is even possible. Nonetheless, "Asset Protection" provides a good framework for those with assets needing more than basic insurance and homestead exemption protections. It is best read now, rather than later when facing imminent disaster; however, examples are provided where even last-minute assistance has been useful.

So what does a book about asset protection have to do with the average American business owner who may be wondering if they will be able to pay the weekly salary of their two, already underpaid employees? Plenty, I had to admit after reading "Asset Protection for Business Owners and High-Income Earners: How to Protect What You Own From Lawsuits and Creditors" by Alan Northcott.With 290 pages to spare, Northcott uses this space wisely, by laying out the case for the necessity that is asset protection. So, I've been fighting a battle with literature for the last few years. I have developed specific tastes, and like a craving a specific type of book. I have been told I can be overly critical. I prefer mature characters that make sound decisions based on their characters and experience. I also have a preference for the characters specific archetype, Ritualistic, Witchcraft, and or Healers in my fantasy.This book gave me all of these things and more. I had my eye on it for a few weeks and purchased it at 12:01 and read it straight through. I can not wait for the next one and look forward to a well written, well paced, and well told story as good if not better than the first.TLDR: If you like casters, tactical magic, support classes, interesting stories, and fast paced adventure you should give this book a try.

Okay, the trope of an everyday guy or girl caught up in a virtual reality game has become almost common place. The biggest problem with the trope is that game logic isn't like real world logic. So any story is driven almost as much by the game mechanics as by the plot. In this take on LiTRPG Mr. Krout gives us Joe, his everyman, who is placed into a virtual reality game as a result of real world accident (he's literally a casualty of war). Joe isn't an experienced gamer, he's played video games but doesn't have the sort of in depth background of someone who is a true 'gamer'. He suffers some other drawbacks as well. In this particular game your initial physical stats are driven both by how you place in testing and what your real life body is like. Since Joe is a paraplegic, his physical stats suck big time. But he does well enough in the testing to achieve a very rare class, one that is essentially unique. This is his biggest advantage, and he exploits it pretty thoroughly.One caveat, the game framework is interesting, but at times confusing to the reader, (at least to me). For example player characteristics like Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, etc. rank up with practice. The odd thing for me was that where a Strength less than 10 is a percentile (i.e. Strength of 9 is .09, or a mere 9%, which is incredibly weak) once it is at 10, the modifier changes to 1.1 or 110%. Thus you never actually have a modifier of 100%, it's either much less or more than 1. And this continues at higher levels as well. A Strength of 49 is basically 149%, but a Strength of 50 is 2 or 200%. Skills, Characteristics, Hit Points, Mana, and Stamina are independent of level. So a high level character doesn't necessarily possess high level skills, and low level characters could conceivably possess lots of Health/Hit Points or Mana, etcAll in all, it was a fun read. Something to devour on a slow day. Entertaining without being too complicated. I recommend it to anyone that enjoys the genre of LitRPG, and to anyone else that's looking for a light, fun read about games and gamers.

This book is great if you can get past the first two or three chapters. When you start the book the author comes off as a teenage Musk Fan boy with something dribbling down his chin. It's pathetic and really turned me off from the whole thing. I gave it a day break and stopped reading that part and jumped to where the story actually begins. From there on the book is awesome and I really enjoyed it. A bit different from the typical book from this genre and an engaging read. Excited to read the second one.

Such a fun book. It’s crazy that after you read so many mediocre books you start to lower your standards and think these aren’t so bad. Until you become lucky enough to stumble across a gem like this one. I loved the authors dungeon series and this one is just as awesome.Loved the tomato analogy to explain character stats. Loved that while the MC has epic powers he also has epic handicaps that he must overcome. So many little details that came together to make it an awesome book.

A good start, for both book and series. The MC appeared to become "dumbed down" a bit near the middle of the book, forgetting or never researching things he should have been aware of. This did lead to a few colorful scenes, but felt "off" - the MC was generally much more thoughtful and observant.For the most part, a smooth flow and a relatively simple read with minimal foreshadowing. The book takes the MC through much of his beginning stage, getting him settled in the game and use to his initial abilities. He quickly becomes a useful member of his guild, and by book's end, very important.The stage is set for the next book, though the MC has a very long road to travel before the series ends...

Buy it, read it, love it. Read it all in one day (it would have been in a single setting but I had to take a short break for my weekly D&D game). Finally a MC you can support wholeheartedly. I won't give you spoilers here as that would truly spoil your enjoyment of this book. If at all squeamish about buying the book, just read the free sample and you will be hooked! Tablet drop (or whatever is the written review equivalent for "Mic drop").

Cons:- The author does a poor job of showing the main characters life time of combat army medical training. In game, he is too distracted to heal which is not somethig his real life profession would allow to go unchecked.- The author gives the main character an extravagant trump card, which is used like any common tool should be, for a task it was created for. Afterwards nothing outside of the box or anything unexpected happened which seems to me to be a waste of something so special.- Main character calls himself a completionist yet denies the first grave quest that comes his way.- The game mechanics are lacking turning this novel into more of a fantasy than a litRPG genre for me.Pros:- The pace of the story is good, it managed to hold my attention well into the wee hours of the morning.- The class is rather untraditional so reading about something different put a good spin on the plot.

Even though the title and cover may seem kitchy, this book does all it promises and more! It does make "retail selling easy" - it breaks down all the barriers to making effective connections with your customers, and gives reasonable, simple advice on how to do so. The day after receiving this book I tried some of the recommended techniques, with immediate results. It proved to me that you don't have to be a "shark" or a "used-car salesman" to achieve high sales; and actually, that this type of aggression drives customers away. I highly, highly recommend this book to anyone working in sales or customer service in any capacity!
